About Michael Afreh

Michael Afreh

Senior software engineer · Berlin, Germany

Michael is a senior software engineer in Berlin with more than twelve years building and running production systems in banking, fintech and e-commerce — from core banking platforms across West Africa to e-commerce systems with millions of products. The kind of work where a bad assumption shows up as an incident report at 3am.

He started writing about money the way he writes design docs: state the constraints, name the failure modes, keep the operations boring. This book is the version of those notes he wishes someone had handed him at his first offer letter.

About the book

The Software Engineer's Guide to Investing applies system design to personal finance: observability for your spending, redundancy in your income and assets, automation for your savings, and chaos drills for the bad years. It is written for engineers who would rather reason about their money than follow tips.
